Embracing New Horizons Blog dei volontari
This summer, I embarked on a three-month volunteering adventure that took me to the beautiful shores of Molfetta, a charming town in Southern Italy. I had the chance to work at a private beach club, and let me tell you, it was an experience I’ll never forget. From playing with kids on the sandy beaches to exploring some of the most stunning spots in Italy, my time in Molfetta was filled with joy, discovery, and new friendships.
Daily Fun: Bringing Joy to the Kids
We played all sorts of games to keep the kids entertained, from board games like Monopoly and card games like Uno to team challenges like Jenga and Connect Four. Occasionally, we’d mix things up with puzzles, adding a bit of brain-teasing fun. Given our beachside location, we spent a lot of time in the water. I helped the kids learn to swim and made sure they felt safe and confident. We also played water games, which were always full of laughter and splashing around. Every morning, I helped out at the mini club, where we assisted with setting up activities and making sure everything ran smoothly. The kids’ bright smiles and warm hugs made these early starts totally worth it. Some of the most memorable moments were the special events we organized, like "Cooking in English," "Lunch in English," and the magical "Night in Tents" camping experience right on the beach. I also captured these moments on camera, creating lasting memories for everyone.
Exploring Southern Italy:
My Travel Highlights During my time off from the beach club, I made the most of being in such a beautiful part of the world. Here are a few travel highlights:
Naples: I spent a day exploring Naples, getting lost in its rich history and indulging in some of the most delicious pizza I’ve ever had.
Monopoli and Polignano a Mare: These coastal gems were breathtaking. Monopoli charmed me with its picturesque streets, while Polignano a Mare wowed me with its dramatic cliffs and stunning sea views.
Vieste and Ostuni: Vieste’s unique rock formations and gorgeous beaches were perfect for a day of adventure, and Ostuni, with its gleaming white buildings, felt like walking through a postcard.
Countless Beaches: Every beach I visited offered something unique, whether it was the perfect spot to relax, swim, or just take in the beauty of Southern Italy.
The Amazing People I Met
One of the best parts of this adventure was the incredible people I met along the way. The other volunteers quickly became like family. We shared so many laughs, supported each other through challenges, and created memories that I’ll cherish forever. Whether we were working together at the beach club or exploring Italy’s stunning landscapes, the bond we formed was truly special. I’m so grateful for these friendships and the wonderful people who made this experience even more unforgettable.
