"It’s bittersweet to think about my project ending" - Salome's Experience in Italy Blog dei volontari
Ciao:) I am Salome from Georgia, and I have been a volunteer in Italy for 9 months already. It seems unreal to me how fast the time has gone, but I guess it is proof that I had an amazing time.
This experience has had a huge impact on my personal growth. I can really tell how much I have grown and what great traits and skills I have gained living independently in a foreign country. I must mention that while living my Italian dream, I had the opportunity to work in a field I love and volunteer with VKE in northern Italy, working with children. Reflecting back to the beginning of the project, I am more than glad to say that all my expectations have been met. Coming here, I had very realistic ideas of what to expect, but living the experience showed me what amazing things were waiting for me here in Italy. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. Though now is the time when I have to slowly get ready to go back, the upcoming summer doesn’t let me get sad, and I am the happiest I have been all year to spend the next 3 months in Italy. It’s bittersweet to think about my project ending. I feel like 1 year was almost too short, but the memories, friendships, and the experiences I take with me don’t let me feel down.
