The four of us in Negrar have now been in Italy for 10 months doing our voluntary service. After initial difficulties due to language barriers and boredom, we are now enjoying our work for the most part. I am happy to see the people every day, most of whom I have really taken to my heart. It really does feel good - just as I had hoped - to give something.
The free time here is probably a bit unusual at first if you come from a big city. We were lucky enough to get along very well within the shared flat and thus have a social, private balance without having to make friends here first. (Which of course also means that the motivation to do just that diminishes...) From a geographical point of view, Negrar is very conveniently located. Verona is quite close, Lake Garda is just around the corner and if you drive a little further, you are surrounded by beautiful mountains. Venice and other beautiful cities are also within easy reach. Negrar itself is situated in very beautiful vineyards. If you are a "connoisseur type" and enjoy spending time alone or in a shared flat, you are in very good hands here.
What I have to say is that it is really wonderful and a privilege to learn a new language so compulsively and therefore easily!
