Erasmus+ Let's participate in democratic Life Volunteers say
Doubt, curiosity, shyness, laughter, listening, insecurity, dialogue, discovery and you could go on forever trying to give yourself an answer to the fateful question asked by the grandmother on returning "But... this Erasmus you did, what is it ?"
The Fornari high school gave me and 7 other young people the opportunity to join the project "Let's participate in democratic Life", proposed by the InCo association, held in Liberec, a small town near Prague, Czech Republic. On July 26, day of departure, we were as agitated as we were doubtful because we were not really aware of what awaited us. Once we arrived in Liberec, armed with our luggage and supported by our group leaders Raffaella and Nicolò, all doubts flew away. We spent our days between excursions, workshops and activities carried out in groups, which remained unchanged until the end of Erasmus so that the path could be concluded with the presidential election, for which each group, with a budget of 200 crowns, had to organize an effective election campaign. Each group then decided on the name of its party, also drawing up a list of objectives and key points of the latter and finally deciding who would stand as a candidate in the elections. The election experience was truly exciting, especially because we had the opportunity to get involved in an area that we knew very little about and thus succeeding, driven by curiosity, to have a broader vision of what politics really is.
Despite the linguistic difficulties, we took advantage of every useful moment to discover even the smallest detail of the lives of the children from Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Lithuania with whom we shared experiences and spaces. It is really impossible to tell and explain the pleasure of knowing other traditions, how beautiful it is to laugh at cultural oddities and share your experiences with endless nocturnal dialogues, ranging from everyday life to literature up to politics and then play down with a joke or a funny anecdote.
