My time in Molfetta Volunteers say
My name is Astrid and I'm a volunteer from Denmark. I have lived in Molfetta, Italy for 6 months, working as a volunteer.
I arrived in Molfetta the 3rd of September 2020 not knowing what to expect. Going to Italy had been a very spontaneous decision so I hadn't had the time to get a good idea about how life here would be like.
Now I can say that living with many people in a different place than home will always come with challenges but I can say that there have been far more ups than downs: meeting your friends after work for a coffee in the afternoon, exploring different cities, eating great (italian) food and in general food from other countries than your own, watching amazing sunsets, drinking wine in the amazing sunsets, movie nights every weekend and especially forming connections and making friends all over Europe. Even work was a really fun challenge - with a lot of kahoot;) - and I have gained some experience I will bring home with me
So even with the corona-restrictions, this has been an amazing opportunity I wouldn't have been without. And if you're thinking about doing a project like this - do it! You will learn a new language, experience a different culture and meet so many great people you wouldn't be able to meet otherwise.
