What a story! A part of my life in Italy Volunteers say
Our volunteer Irakli from Georgia, having reached the end of his volunteer experience in Trento, sent us this farewell letter that we are very keen to share on our volunteer blog because it summarizes, once again, the essence of the mobility of the volunteering so dear to InCo.
"Today is a very exciting day for me because I am starting to count the last hours with my second family in Italy. I spent exactly one year sharing life with you, starting with the children in kindergarten and ending with the Older Walk Group . I have shared my life with almost all the members of the community inside and outside the voluntary service and you have all become part of it. We have shared many experiences together and you have made my trip to Italy unforgettable and full of good memories.
It was a real pleasure to meet all my colleagues, I enjoyed the working atmosphere and I admire you very much. I appreciated all the support and all the types of work done, just as I appreciated all the emotions, good and bad, that have taken place over the course of this year. You have empowered me to improve my skills by working with you. The positive atmosphere that was created by all of us, especially Gigi, was incredible and I may never find one like it.
I would like to thank Luigi, for making this work environment special and because without him it wouldn't have been the same incredible story and - what a story! -. Luigi is a very special person and I think everyone thinks the same. I thank you for every second we have worked and lived together. Not only Lavis but also Italy and the world must be proud that there are people like Luigi-Mario Mafezzoli.
All the volunteers, both from the Civil Service and not, were completely different in culture, ways of thinking, perspectives about the world and were characterized by the most diverse life experiences, thank you for sharing your experience with me, I am really grateful to have been a part of your life.
It is so sad to know that everything in life is fleeting, nothing and no one will be with us forever. It is sad because sometimes we can have a good time with great people but there is always an end, even if, at times, the latter can be positive. At the same time, the end of a story is always the beginning of a new one and I believe in the idea that distance does not mean anything, there are people who are distant even if physically close, just as there are people who are close in thought and affection. even if distant. I feel a part of me will stay here with you.
You are special people and I thank you for all the opportunities you have offered me, for all the learning experiences, for helping me in difficult times, but above all, for giving me your friendship. It was the greatest experience of my life. One person said that "people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." And the feelings you gave me were so positive that I will always remember them.
