What am I doing here? Volunteers say
It took me a long time writing these few words. There are some experiences you can never forget, some experiences you’ll never finish to process in your mind and never finish to completely understand in your heart.
I also don’t know much about blogs… I never wrote one, so I don’t really know what I’m doing… ☺
EVS was supposed to be a kind of pre-job experience in the International Cooperation area, it didn’t matter where, I just wanted a good one, the right shot. Maybe that’s why I still meet people asking me what the hell am I doing here?
I’ve been working hard in the international cooperation area of Lleida City Hall, office job most of the time but I like it, so one day my boss asks if I’d like to go to follow a project on the field, in a refugee camp in the Sahara Desert. You bet I wanna go there!
Long story short I took part in the organization group and before I realized I was walking in the desert barefoot starring at the horizon…
You can get your thoughts lost in the hugeness of the desert and in the gigantic nights, but you find yourself as a pure human being since the first time you take off your shoes and meet your host. It’s a flash and you have a new mom, new brothers and new family. You got them as they have got you and you don’t need anything else (well, you might need an occasional shower :P ).
Now back to office job with sand still leaking from everywhere I look outside the window and I do know what I'm doing here, pursuing my dream job, making it real, and for that i must thank all the people that helped me making it possible, all those people I met on this road.
