"I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to show children how important their voice is." - Amelie's Experience in Luxembourg Blog
Hi everyone, I'm Amelie, 20 years old, and I'm spending 9 months abroad in Luxembourg for an ESC project. I can't believe that it's already my sixth month here, time flies by so fast!
I suggest everyone go abroad and do a volunteering activity!
During my six months, I made some good friends, had the pleasure to meet so many different children and educators, saw that Luxembourg is much more than a really rich country, got some tattoos, complained a lot about the weather, and enjoyed every ray of sunshine I could get :)
And I applied to study Social Work!
I'm working as a volunteer for the project "Die Kunterbunte - Zeitschrift von Kindern für Kinder" from the Croix Rouge Luxembourgeoise.
My job is to create this magazine together with children from the local Maison Relais, Crèches, and from some Maison Relais which specifically cater to the needs of children coming from migrant backgrounds (extracurricular afternoon care centres from the field of non-formal education).
I made the Kunterbunte my heart project by making small projects about different "international days" with the children.
I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to give children a voice and show them how important their voice is.
No topic is too big or too small for the Kunterbunte as it's a magazine from children to children.
So pack your 7 things (it's a German saying;)) and go abroad!
