"Volunteering abroad changes you in every way, it allows you to experience a different kind of happiness" - Moira volunteering in Italy Blog

Ciaoooo, I'm Moira, 18 years old, from Germany, and currently doing my volunteering service in a primary school near Trento. I finished high school last year and didn't want to study right away, so I took the opportunity to leave Germany and go volunteering abroad.

I just have to say: it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Here I get to experience a different kind of happiness… Whether it's while exploring new places, travelling, working with the kids, fun evenings with the people in my flat, events at the local bar, or activities with friends I've met. In my volunteering service in the school, I help the kids that have difficulties or are in need of help, I support the teachers, help with events such as the Christmas Party, or go on trips with them. I also have the possibility to do my own little projects. Right now, I'm teaching a class how to write a story in German:) Every day is different and you get so much in return: hugs, drawings, or also just a simple "Ciao Maestra Moira". Volunteering abroad changes you in every way: you get to know yourself better, navigate through your new life, are out of your comfort zone, speak/become more fluent in a language, and meet the most amazing people<3. Of course, it's not always sunshine and flowers, but you'll get to manage it:) It's so crazy that half of my time is already over and I get really sad just thinking about leaving because strangers became friends, German became Italian and English, and "ciao Moira" became "ciao Maestra".
