Ciao tutti! I am Salome, 22 years old from Georgia. I graduated from university this summer and started my volunteering service here in Italy in September. I am doing my service at VKE, where I work with kids and have the opportunity to play with them, be involved in after-school activities, and help my organization create different games, festivals, and projects for kids.
I am very happy with my organization; working with them brings me a lot of joy every day. I’m very glad to say that choosing the ESC program was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! This was the first big change in my life after years of studying and living in my hometown. I had my doubts and fears, but from the first days of arriving in Italy, I was welcomed by a friendly group of co-workers and other ESC volunteers who are doing their service near me. I quickly made a lot of friends, which made my journey even more joyful. A big plus was that I didn’t have to worry about the financial part of traveling or accommodations, so I was able to adjust without any troubles. Adapting to a totally new life here happened very suddenly and easily. I would 100% recommend ESC volunteering to others. This is a unique opportunity to travel, live abroad, change your surroundings, learn important skills, new languages, and become independent. This experience will play a big role in my life in terms of growing up as a young adult.
