Renata's 3 month Journey Blog dei volontari

When I arrived in Italy last June, I didn’t know quite what to expect, but the three months I spent here turned out to be one of the most rewarding and transformative experiences of my life. One of the highlights was getting to immerse myself in Italian culture. It was fascinating to discover the similarities between Italian and my own culture, whether in the way people come together around meals or share a deep sense of community. Those moments of connection made me feel at home, even in a foreign country.

The volunteer work itself was incredibly fulfilling. Every day, I had the privilege of working with children, and it felt rejuvenating to be surrounded by their energy, creativity, and joy. The kids were so easy-going, which made every day a new adventure. We spent our days playing games, dancing, and exploring different activities. Almost every day we would enjoy the sea, and other times, we’d create small performances or simply spend time together. It wasn’t just about teaching or leading them, it was about learning from them as well, embracing the simplicity of joy they brought to each moment.

This experience was not only about helping others but also about personal growth. During these months, I became more independent and grew as a person. I return home with a renewed sense of purpose, knowing that the connections I made and the experiences I had will stay with me forever. To anyone considering volunteering, I encourage you to dive in, it’s a journey that will shape you in ways you can’t even imagine.
