YEU Cyprus
YEU Cyprus stands for Youth for Exchange and Understanding Cyprus and it is a nonpolitical, non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Nicosia, Cyprus. Since 1995, the aim of YEU is to foster closer co-operation and better understanding among youngsters through the exchange of experiences and ideas. It is one of the biggest youth organizations in Cyprus numbering more than 1000 members and is considered one of the most active organizations of the island, realizing several activities both on an international and local level.
- Structured dialogue conferences.
- Debates.
- Public Interventions.
- Drafting policy papers, public consultations, advocacy, lobbying for youth and female matters.
- Facilitate information and sensitization activities for youth/shed a light on actual topics providing comprehensive information.
- Seek collaborations with the Mediterranean
- Institute of Gender Studies, Female
- Movements and the LGBTQI+ organization
- Social media campaigns, infographics, email, newsletters.
- Volunteers will have the opportunity to decide on more activities to be carried out
- during the project based on their interest and relevant background.
You need to be aged between 18 and 30 years old and you should preferably be an EU citizen.
You don't need any previous experience or training in order to become a volunteer and carry on your activities in YEU Cyprus. Just be curious, open-minded and highly motivated!
Food and accommodation
You will get free accommodation for the whole duration of your voluntary service. You will live in a single room with shared bathroom, laundry facilities and a fully equipped kitchen with cooking facilities. You will share the apartment with other volunteers, never with the elderly. Indeed, if the room is inside the nursing home “Villa Serena” (close to the city center and the Talvera river), it is at the last floor totally separated from the floors where elderlies are hosted and doing activities.
During working days, you will eat your lunch in the canteen of the elderly home / disabled people centre where you work together with the staff. The other meals and during the weekends (or free days if you decide to stay in Bolzano), you have the possibility to eat in the canteen of the nursing home where you live. In any case you will receive a food allowance to cover the expenses linked to meal for dinner, holidays and weekend.
